From one beautiful photograph.

In the spring of 2019, we received a wonderful photo. It was a cute shot of the toy shelf we had just sent them. I remember asking them if we could post it on their website. After that, they visited Kochi and showed us how the products are made at the factory. They then asked us if we could write an article about it, and we decided to visit their home in Hiroshima.

Mr. H, who is transferred frequently for work, keeps the things he keeps in his house to a minimum. Therefore, when we visit his home, the shelves full of toys and tools are particularly eye-catching. His only daughter, Kokone, uses them almost every day. On the day of the interview, after finishing breakfast, she took out toys and English study materials from the shelves and started playing with her father, as usual.

Please tell us how you found out about Nakayoshi Library.

When Kokoro Ne was about to start nursery school, she would need more clothes, so I was looking for a good shelf, and that's when I came across Nakayoshi Library. I'm the type of person who will research thoroughly if I like something, so I first checked out the website from top to bottom. I heard that they could do custom orders, so I immediately called them and asked them all kinds of questions.

That's right. I remember our conversation on the phone. You were in a hurry to buy it in time for your child's start at the kindergarten, and you were worried about whether to add a hook to hang your bag. I'm glad that you were able to use it carefully.
How to use the multipurpose toy and tool shelf
I am very curious to know how our versatile shelves and transformable chairs are being used in Mr. H's home.

A place for Kokoro Ne-chan to play

This is the play space in the living room. There are various shelves next to the picture book shelf. In front of that is a low table and a chair. This is Kokoro Neko's play area. When she has her own place, she can play in this space.

Normally, when Kokoro Ne comes home from nursery school, she goes straight to the shelves. Then she starts playing in front of the furniture. On the day of the interview, she was using a [Changeable Chair] as a table and playing with English. When you swipe a card, she speaks in English. When her mother asked her what "hair" was, she made a gesture of brushing her hair back.
Store your clothes
Putting away clothes
Storage for toys, picture books, and educational materials
I think she is able to tidy up on her own because she is used to putting things back where they should be and playing with them. I heard that she also puts her clothes away by herself almost every day. I'm impressed that she's so amazing.
Store your toys Storage for teaching materials
The movable shelves are stocked with a selection of wooden toys. Many of the toys are designed to encourage fine motor skills, as Kokoro Neko's parents say that they allow her to concentrate while playing, and that there are many different ways to play with them.

During the hour and a half we spent in the interview, the children were playing in front of the various shelves. They looked like they were having fun, using all the toys and educational materials evenly.

Ms. H says that analog toys help children develop ingenuity and concentration, which will be important for the future, rather than TV or games. Her approach to child-rearing was reflected in the neatly organized shelves.
Can also be used to store teaching materials

Mr. H's storage is not just limited to toys, but also includes many English study materials. The storage space is larger than it looks, with pocket-sized study materials that can be stored side-by-side and enough depth to store items in front and behind .
Change of clothes in place
favorite Putting things away in the drawers
The three drawers on the bottom shelf are where Kokoro Neko's clothes are stored. She started storing her clothes here when she started going to nursery school, but now she puts them away and takes them out by herself. She seems to enjoy it. When I asked her "What's in the drawers?" she took out all kinds of things and even tried on her favorite clothes to show me.
Upper rise

Another feature of the multi-purpose shelf is that the top surface is raised on three sides. This is great for children as things can be placed there without falling off.
At Mr. H's house, English study materials are lined up. The books themselves are wide, so they line up neatly without the need for bookends. Next to them is a DVD player. Kokoro Neko seems to find this height easy to read, as it is at eye level.
Kokoro Neko's favorite is Woof Woof. She has Woof Woof, which is as tall as her, sitting on a changeable chair. It looks like something is about to start.
The height of the furniture is also carefully considered

Compared to other furniture, the height of the shelves is set low, making them easy to use for children aged 2 to 6. Items are at eye level, making them easy to recognize and take out.
Family introduction

We visited on a Saturday morning. Despite it being their day off, they kindly agreed to be interviewed. "I can't buy anything big because I'll be transferred soon, but next I'd like to get a bookcase," said the wife. Because their only daughter, Kokoro Ne, is their daughter, most of the items in the living room are hers. In addition to the furniture we've shown you, there are magnets on the walls to make shapes, picture books and stuffed animals. Just as her parents want her to learn something while playing, playing seems to be helping Kokoro Ne's development.
When I see my two-year-old playing alone using English learning materials, I am really interested.
I'm sure that's because her parents treasure the time they spend with Kokoro Neko in between their busy work schedules.
On this day, both mom and dad were at home. Just seeing them playing with their parents brought a smile to my face. It was a short time, but I was able to spend a wonderful time filled with happiness.
Thank you so much for your valuable interview, Mr. H.
