Toys and play equipment made from wood from Yusuhara Town
The Woodpecker Learning Center was designed by architect Shigeru Hosoki and is a spacious facility that makes generous use of local wood.
You can fully experience the "warmth of wood" that is so important to us at Nakayoshi Library, and the design that blends in with nature will provide children and families with a comfortable time.
The "Toy Room" on the second floor of the Woodpecker Learning Center is filled with play equipment and furniture that we at Nakayoshi Library have carefully crafted using wood from Yusuhara Town.
All of the items, such as prefabricated mini houses and tunnels, wooden building blocks, and large slides, are designed with the warmth of craftsmanship.
When you open the large window on the east side, you will find a refreshing space that makes you feel as if you are in nature. The fresh air and scenery you can enjoy here are truly soothing.
There is a safe space surrounded by wooden partitions near the entrance. This area is stocked with a wide variety of wooden toys that children of all ages, from 0 to 5 years old, can enjoy.
The toys are gently rounded, smooth to the touch, and designed with safety in mind, so parents can relax and watch their children have fun playing.
You can enjoy the rolling toys and moving mechanisms right before your eyes, and it is designed so that even small children can play safely.
This pool filled with small wooden balls is a big hit with both children and adults!
When you put your feet in, the smooth feel of the wood is so pleasant that you will feel so relaxed that you will lose track of time.
Nakayoshi Library's products are made from locally sourced wood, which is environmentally friendly and improves with use. The play equipment and furniture in this room will also show new faces every time you visit.
The smooth feel, the scent of the wood, and even the rounded corners are all made with great care. Please feel free to touch and experience it for yourself.
A space that parents and children can enjoy together, creating special memories every time you visit.
We spoke to the person in charge of the facility!
Now that we have a place where the whole family can enjoy themselves, I feel like there are more smiles on the faces of our visitors.
Since the "Toy Room" was opened, equipped with play equipment and furniture from the "Nakayoshi Library," many families have been visiting. Parents and children who never had the chance to visit before have started to visit, and the space has been created where children can play to their heart's content while parents can relax in the cafe.
Many people make the effort to visit from far away, and with both a play area for children and a place for parents to relax, it is well-known as an attractive spot that makes people want to bring their children.
New books arrive every month!
Library Branch
A corner of the children's room has been set up as a picture book corner, where new picture books are delivered every month from the "Library Above the Clouds" in Yusuhara Town. The opportunity to discover different books every time you visit is a joy, and is popular with families.
Why not spend some time enjoying the world of picture books with your children and letting your imagination soar?
There's plenty of seasonal fun to be had!
The Woodpecker Learning Center holds various events every season. For the 2024 Christmas season, a special photo set created by a photographer living in Yusuhara Town will be available. A beautiful set reminiscent of a photo studio will be set up in a corner of the toy room, allowing you to take memorable commemorative photos in a special atmosphere that you cannot experience at home or in the town.
We hope that this space will become a place where all visitors can create family memories.
