A complex facility renovated from Minatogawa Elementary School
A complex called "NATURE STUDIO," which combines regional revitalization and sustainability, is scheduled to open in spring 2022 on the site of the former Minatogawa Elementary School in Hyogo Ward, Kobe City.
Apparently, the aquarium , food hall , brewery, etc. are tenants, and it is a fairly large complex facility using an abandoned school. There was an article about it in the Kobe Keizai Shimbun . If you are interested, please check it out.
This complex , NATURE STUDIO, also houses a welfare facility, so Nakayoshi Library was in charge of the indoor play equipment for a small nursery school .

The teacher in charge liked the design and wanted to have a playground equipment made out of wood . This wish came true, and we decided to make a slide to order.
The playground equipment was created by everyone at the furniture factory, with illustrations drawn, blueprints drawn, and everyone discussing it together as they worked on it.
So when it was delivered, it was set up while carefully adjusting the level with the floor. It's a good size, and I think 1- to 2-year-olds will be playing with it a lot from April when the nursery opens. I'm really looking forward to it♪

The wall play can be replaced. Although I have not had much experience in making things, I made several prototypes and made them. I may find new challenges depending on the children's reactions.

There is a tunnel on the left side. If you go through it, you will be able to go through the slides.

Indoor playground equipment made from domestic materials
Nakayoshi Library does not use composite materials such as plywood, particle board, or MDF, but is made entirely from real wood. I hope that children can understand the image of pillars, beams, roofs, and houses. The house-shaped design has been greatly improved.
All corners are rounded to ensure safety so that children do not get hurt if they fall and hit something. The slide is also very comfortable. It's very smooth.
Future changes over time
While overseas-made playground equipment is becoming mainstream for nursery schools, it is becoming rare to find playground equipment made primarily from domestic materials. I hope that the fact that we can make custom-made products, rather than using ready-made products, will also be appealing to you.
As it is used, it will turn amber, and as children touch it a lot, the oil will penetrate the wood and it will become stronger. Wooden playground equipment gets better the more it is used. Next year, we will consider making it a standard product at Nakayoshi Library.
This is the first big job of the peak delivery period from February to March. We have cleared one task, the delivery of indoor play equipment. It's going to be busy from now until the end of next month!
