My bookshelf: Storage capacity for 300 picture books

We have created a special bookshelf. It can store a large number of books by size, including picture books, hardcover books, business books, picture books, and paperbacks. If you want to store a large number of books, this is the one to start with. This is a horizontal type bookshelf that is recommended for bedrooms and children's rooms.

The benefits of wooden bookshelves

The reason for making my bookshelf was that I was asked to do so by a nursery school. Even now, there is a picture book corner in front of the staff room, where the children gather.

This simple bookshelf will never get boring, so that there will always be plenty of books in places where children gather.

Thoughts behind the design

The main point of the product is that reading material that enriches the mind of a boy is a book that is worth reading, wrapped in a hard case. In order to store and enjoy such memorable books, we added a leaf pattern to the side, giving it a child-like feel, and we made it possible to store a large amount of them.

A size that doesn't feel oppressive

When you hear that a bookshelf can store over 300 books, you might imagine a fairly large piece of furniture, but in fact, the depth of the piece of furniture has been kept to a minimum. Even when placed next to a living room or dining table, it doesn't feel too deep and looks very stylish.

Leaf pattern on the side

There is a leaf pattern carved into the side. When viewed from the side, the book covers inside can be seen. We have created a cute, child-like atmosphere, so we hope you will enjoy the design by leaving as little space as possible on both sides of the bookshelf.

Upper row

This is where you can store paperbacks (height 148mm) and new books (height 182mm). Novels and other books can be placed here. Of course, picture books can also be stored here. If you are storing children's items only, you can display toys and stuffed animals.

Middle row

This can store books up to A5 size, including picture books.

Lower row

The bottom can store A4 size magazines, picture books, picture books, etc. It can store slightly heavy books and sturdy hardcover books.

More than just books

You can display not only picture books and books, but also toys and favorite accessories. Add a little color to create a very cute display. This bookshelf will fit in well in your living room.

The back panel is made of solid wood.

Since it may be used as a room divider, we deliver it with solid cypress boards inlaid all the way to the back panel. Cypress paneling is of high quality and without a single knot. The grain visible between the boards gives the furniture a luxurious feel.

A simpler variation

You can also choose to have the side leaf cutouts removed. Even adults can use it in their study, as it can hold a lot of books, making it very convenient.

Sparing no time or effort to make good products

Unlike mass-produced furniture, furniture craftsmen assemble, polish and finish each piece individually. They beautifully finish even the fine details of the wooden joints, the rounded corners and the hidden screw plugs. Furniture made from plywood is easy to assemble, but since natural wood is used, the wood may warp due to humidity. They assess the condition of the wood and use the right materials in the right places.

It becomes even more flavorful with age.

The wood used for Me and My bookshelf is cypress. The more you use this cypress, the more flavor it will gain, and the color will gradually change to amber over time. It will continue to change color without deterioration even after 1st year, 2nd year, 5th year, 10th year of use. Once your child has outgrown the picture books, you can store your family's hobby books and magazines in it.

Commitment to safety

Nakayoshi Library's children's furniture is primarily made from cypress from Kochi Prefecture. The trees are 50 to 70 years old and are of high quality. As there are few knots and only the best parts are used, the cost of materials is not cheap, but the longer you use it, the more it will turn amber and improve in luster. As time goes on, artificial wood grain "looks" are often used, but considering the harm to humans caused by harmful substances released from adhesives, we still prefer to provide natural wood for children.

Uses safe and natural paints

The process that Nakayoshi Library spends the most time on is painting and polishing. We place great importance on the safety of polishing for children, so we round the corners and finish so that they don't hurt when they touch it. We polish the pieces many times to make them smooth. And then there's the paint. We use vegetable-derived Libos oil for the paint. We polish the pieces while allowing vegetable oils such as linseed oil and perilla oil to penetrate the wood. It's not a petroleum-based paint, so it has no unpleasant odor and brings out the wood grain. Best of all, it's harmless to the human body, so you can apply it without a mask. Of course, we use the same paint for the toys as well.

How to make the most of the nodes

It is not the "norm" in the industry that knot-free furniture is elegant and beautiful, but rather we believe that "making furniture from the blessings of the forest as it is" is more natural and allows you to enjoy the expression of the wood more than ever before. Also, trees that have been pruned and cared for for 50 to 70 years have fewer knots and are sold at high prices in the market as high-quality materials. By directly purchasing well-cared for logs from old trees and using the knots as part of the design, we are able to deliver "furniture with a unique expression" to our customers.

Characteristics of the section

Live knots and missing knots (holes) are considered to be part of the wood's individuality, and are used as part of the design of the furniture, provided that they do not affect the use of the furniture.

The grain of real wood is different for each piece. The size of the knots also varies depending on the environment in which the tree grew and how it was cared for. The furniture we deliver will be one of a kind. We hope you will welcome it into your family.

The main body of the furniture is made from cypress from Kochi Prefecture. It is 100% domestically produced and 100% manufactured in-house. Even though we use wood, we don't know how it came from or whether it was disinfected or not. We buy the wood ourselves, manufacture our furniture, and ship it out, so we can deliver "good products" with confidence.

In my opinion, good furniture is of course about the service from purchase to delivery and the after-sales support from the user, but what is most important is the "feel". It has been polished and finished to be gentle to the user.

After delivery

There is only one package. Just remove the cardboard and you can use it as is. No assembly required.
