Just the right size

The size of the circle is 120cm wide x 80cm deep x 30.5cm high, which is enough for up to three children to play in. If it is too big, it will get in the way in childcare facilities, so Nakayoshi Library recommends a wooden ball pool of this size.

Wooden balls come in different shapes and sizes

The pool contains around 2,000 wooden balls, some round and some egg-shaped, made from a mixture of cypress and cedar. Each ball has a different feel, weight, and scent, helping children to develop their imagination and curiosity while they play.

Size to prevent accidental ingestion

Once an infant reaches the age of 5 months, they start putting anything they touch into their mouth. At Nakayoshi Library, we use containers that meet our company standards (round containers 40mm or larger, egg containers 52mm or larger) to prevent accidental ingestion, and are safe for children to use.

Age-appropriate play

For babies under 1 year old, we start with finger and hand play, which is important for infants and toddlers, such as catching and gripping wooden balls. As they grow older and develop their curiosity, they will try diving or lying down, and gradually the number of people playing together will increase, broadening the scope of play.

Wood Education Playroom

In recent years, wooden indoor playground equipment has become more common at child-rearing facilities such as support centers and wood education events. However, it seems that there are still not many nurseries and kindergartens that have it. In this day and age, playing in nature in the mountains or the sea has come to be considered a valuable experience, so we recommend nurseries and kindergartens as an opportunity for children to come into contact with natural wood on a daily basis in their second home.

Simple structure that is easy to assemble

The playpen is divided into four pieces, and it is easy to assemble by simply fitting each piece into the groove. (The wooden floor and the many wooden balls make a stable playpen with little lateral shaking.) This allows teachers who are busy with daycare to assemble it easily and without spending a lot of time.

How to assemble

Assemble the outer frame. First, lay down the wooden slats that will become the bottom board.

Attach a board frame to one of the long sides.

Attach the board frame to the other side.

Fit one side of the short piece into the notch.

Do the same on the other side, aligning it with the notches.

This completes the framework.
