Hello. I'm Shimojo, a staff member.
March is finally here, and it's a bit of a tough season for me as I suffer from hay fever, but the flowers are gradually starting to bloom, and there are more and more moments when the weather is warm and I feel like spring has arrived. There is also a graduation ceremony this month, so March is sure to pass by in a hurry.
In January, when the weather was still cold, a customer emailed me and asked me to make a Buddhist altar. The request was, "The purpose of the altar is a 'Buddhist altar,' but I would like you to make something like a simple wooden box that doesn't look like a typical Buddhist altar. "
As the pieces would later be placed in their children's and grandchildren's homes, they wanted something that wouldn't take up much space, would fit in with any home, and had a timeless design that would blend in with the interior.
We were very happy that they asked Nakayoshi Library to make a Buddhist altar to hold their family's important memorial tablets.

We shared the image of the Buddhist altar with the customer through illustrations, and they wanted it to be something that wouldn't take up too much space when the doors were opened, so we decided to make it a foldable type.

The altar we created is simple and does not look like an altar at first glance, and will blend in with any interior. The customer was very pleased with how well it turned out.
As a bridge between customers and the production staff, I listen to what customers have to say directly via email and phone, and as I discuss the situation with them, I was reminded that one of my jobs as a salesperson is to convey to the production staff the feedback that customers are happy with the products, as the production staff do not have any opportunities to interact with customers and do not receive direct feedback from customers about the products that they have made and delivered.

A customer sent us a photo of how the item is displayed. It is the perfect size , and is displayed alongside a model airplane that was a treasured possession of the customer's father.

It blends in naturally with the lovely room. It doesn't feel like a Buddhist altar at all.
I hope this product can be used for many years to come, even as generations change.
Thank you very much for requesting Nakayoshi Library.
I feel that in the future, more and more people will want simpler Buddhist altars, with designs like this one that don't look out of place in a room.
