Wednesday, March 24th Today, the weather was calm and sunny, and it was as warm as April. The pleasant weather and the cherry blossoms in bloom make you feel the change of seasons.
Today we held a tree planting event at Takasu Second Kindergarten in our local area, Kochi Prefecture.
Nakayoshi Library made a wooden sign (message board).
During the tree planting event, we helped by making a sign (message board). We used solid cypress and cedar, the same materials we usually use to make furniture. It's a very luxurious sign.
Thanks to the kindness of the kindergarten, the company name is visible.
Cherry blossom petals on a wooden message board
We thought that simply planting Space Gourd Cherry Blossom saplings would not give the children a sense of accomplishment and would lack excitement, so we decided to print our handprints on a wooden message board to represent a cherry blossom tree in full bloom.
"This hand is so big!" We all work together to create one piece of art.

A 3m long Space Gourd Cherry tree sapling arrived from Niyodogawa Town. It's about 10 years old in human years. The still slender trunk stands on its own.
Over the next three years, they plan to spend the tree building strong roots and making sure it doesn't fall over.
The four-year-old children were covering the large seedlings with soil. It was impressive to see the children's excited expressions and cheering in unison while they waited.
As an activity to get in touch with nature
Takasu Daini Kindergarten has been actively involved in nature experiences, such as obtaining certification as a Wood Start Declaration Kindergarten, growing vegetables, and holding stargazing events in the school grounds. The purpose of this event is to send out an encouraging message of "Let's do our best now" by putting up a message board in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
And, even though events at the kindergarten were canceled or restricted, we wanted to do something that would be memorable for the children, so we held a tree planting event.
Creating something together with other companies
This time, Mr. Morimoto from Takasu Dai-ni Kindergarten was the initiator and personally recruited cooperating companies, and together we were able to create one event!
The Space Gourd Cherry Blossom seedlings were provided by the General Incorporated Foundation One Earth in Niyodogawa Town, and the flowerbeds were made by Ueda Microorganisms . And the message board was made by us. We couldn't have made it alone, but we worked together with other companies, and that's what made this tree planting event so successful.

Providing hands-on activities for kindergartens and nursery schools
Up until now, my main job has been selling furniture and toys, but I think that if I can also hold hands-on events for children at kindergartens and nurseries, they will be very happy. So, I'm going to work hard this year to spread the word even more about Kochi Prefecture.
