A letter from the Wooden Toy Factory

木のおもちゃ工場 からのお便り

We are now in the Christmas season, and today, the 15th,

For toys, we will be closing orders for delivery by Christmas.

I would really like to accept it until the last minute,

Sorry, sorry to all customers who placed orders after the 15th (;∀;)

Now then,

Thanks to this, our toy factory in Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture, is very busy. We have only six people working there.

This number of people handles the entire process from preparing the boards to finishing them, all by hand.

Nowadays, most factories are mechanized.

This may sound very inefficient,

This process of making toys, which can only be done by hand, is something we want to cherish.

Woodworking machines have been improving year by year, and there are now machines that can cut wood into pre-programmed shapes at the touch of a button.

There are many laser marking machines on the market that can write any text you like.

While many other factories have installed such machines, Nakayoshi Library's toy factory

While focusing on minimum efficiency, all processes such as polishing, lettering, and die cutting are done by hand.

We make our products with great care.

Of course we do the maintenance ourselves.

You might think that it's inefficient. It's true that you can make a large amount by using a machine.

In large factories, you can see people working in front of the same machines all day, moving materials from right to left.

I've seen it.

This also involves checking for scratches, thinking about minute-by-minute efficiency, and making improvements.

It requires the skills to operate machines effectively, and it's definitely a great job.

However, the production of the Nakayoshi Library is different.

The machines we use only do the bare minimum, such as scraping, cutting, and polishing.

So the experience and skills of the people are very important.

The image is of a person becoming proficient with tools and machines, acquiring skills, and gradually being able to make better things.

Of course, at first you won't be able to do anything, but after six months or a year, your body will get used to the movements of the machine.

You will gradually get better at it.

You can see your own growth as clearly as if it were right in front of your eyes.

Once you've mastered one task, move on to the next.

That's how it works

After three or five years of practice, you will be able to make a single toy quickly and neatly.

The joy of making things is using your hands, touching machines, handling wood, creating a shape,

Then, as you gain experience and knowledge, you will be able to design on your own.

That's right, "The things I make reach customers and children" and make them happy!!"

This is what motivates the people who work at Nakayoshi Library to create things.

At first, the things I make don't become products and I end up wasting materials.

It's such a satisfying feeling when the technology improves and we are able to make it.

After all, the people who make it are having fun

Only a company that has the ambition to work can produce high-quality products that reflect the creators' ideas.

We believe we can provide this to our customers.

Aiming to be a company where the workers play a leading role

Today too, we will continue to work hard on creating things.

That's all from the Mitoyo Toy Factory.
