Life is full of surprises

人生色々

Good evening. The wood processing machine at the Kochi factory started to malfunction, and we were unable to process anything for a while, but it finally returned to normal yesterday. Starting today, we will be operating at full capacity to make up for the delay. *However, you never know what's going to happen when you're working. It's good to focus on your daily work, but I've come to realise that we should always be prepared and have the leeway to act at any time in times of crisis like this. This was a new experience for me. I'll make sure to put it to good use next time (I'm taking a positive approach and thinking of it as a learning experience).

To the next stage

The other day I wrote in my email newsletter about how "a lot of things have happened in the past few months," and today I'd like to introduce one of those things on my blog. *First of all, I'd like to introduce the new job I'm helping out with at a nursery school. The site is in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture, where the toy factory is located. Through an introduction from an architect, I've been put in charge of the playground equipment and nursery lockers for a new nursery school in Takase-cho. Today I'm having a meeting at the site. This time, I'll also be installing bouldering on the wall, so I'm having a thorough meeting♪

Kubo-san, who is in charge of the project, is also concentrating on taking measurements. Nakayoshi Library is a furniture store, so in most cases the furniture is placed inside a completed building, but when we are also in charge of the built-in furniture like this, we have many opportunities to participate in meetings with the client, the architect, and the construction management staff.

When I hear about the client's thoughts on running the new building and the background and get to know their personality, I'm always drawn into the conversation. Everyone is good at talking, and people who can manage a lot of employees are really attractive. The designers and construction companies make professional proposals to such clients. It's really educational to hear how smoothly the on-site meetings go (even if problems arise, they are discussed on the spot and solved one by one), and I'm really happy to be able to participate as a part of it. After all, we also want to increase the number of proposals we can make as professionals in making childcare furniture! The construction is scheduled to be completed around the Obon festival. This time, we will make our best proposals and build a long relationship with them.

Mr. Sakuma is retiring today.

Now, to the main topic. Today, Sakuma-san, who I worked with for two years, retired. I thought that this day might come someday, but when it actually happened, I was sad. I miss the time when we went to the hot spring together on the company trip and talked about various things. (Being naked closes the distance between people in an instant. Probably.)

He is attentive to those around him, thinks about every word when he communicates something to others, and conveys everything carefully to everyone. He is also very polite to people younger than him, and is eager to absorb new things. He is someone I can respect in many ways. Looking back, I think that this has made our work in the company go much more smoothly.

It's a shame that she is leaving, but she will now be independent and pursue the business that she has always wanted to do! I hope that the experience of working at Nakayoshi Library for two years will be useful to her in the future.

Whether it's new hires or people leaving to move on to the next stage of life, life is a series of choices. As I continue to work in my current job, I want to devote myself to things so seriously that no matter what path I choose, even if I fail, I'll be able to think, "I'm glad I did this."

I hope you continue to have a fun life, Sakuma-san!
