Ahhh!! I've been given a difficult problem. How should I solve it? Thinking about it won't get me anywhere, so I'll just wait for Monday to come. I think these types of problems are usually solved by talking about them.
Finn Juhl, the Master of Scandinavian Design
My business trip to Tokyo was scheduled for 2 nights and 3 days, but due to the outbreak of coronavirus, the nursery school event was suddenly canceled. I received a message after arriving on the business trip. I decided to return to Kochi a day earlier than planned.

Due to the change of plans, the Finn Juhl exhibition started today! I had been planning to go if my schedule allowed for about three months, so I went on the first day of the exhibition.

I've always wanted a Finn Juhl chair, but I don't often have a chance to see one in person. At this exhibition, you can take photos and even sit and experience the chair. I'm drooling lol.

The exhibition showcases the achievements of Koak Klint, who laid the foundations for modern furniture design at the time, as well as works by many Danish furniture designers who studied under him.

There are many famous works by Hans J. Wegner, Borg Mogensen, Poul Kjaerholm, Arne Jacobsen, and others.

But the main focus of this exhibition is Finn Juhl.
At that time in Denmark, it was common for furniture makers to obtain a qualification as a furniture craftsman (joiner) before moving on to design.
Finn Juhl is the only one who is very different in that he started by designing the chair he wanted to sit on and searching for a craftsman who could make it. In other words, someone who did not even have a furniture craftsman's license designed furniture with his own free ideas and became known as a master.
Although it is commonplace now, it seems that in the past it was considered a heresy. He didn't design chairs to sell, but chairs that he himself would want to sit on, according to the explanation.
He became a furniture designer by teaching himself without anyone. Amazing talent and hard work.

Easy Chair No. 45 from the armchair series that I have always wanted
A chair with beautiful curves from any angle: from the back, diagonally behind, or from the front.

The chairs of designers (such as Wegner and Mogensen) who worked their way up from furniture craftsmen to furniture designers and left their mark on the industry are really comfortable to sit in. This is because the chairs were designed based on ergonomics and the basic dimensions of the human body (Danish people at the time). They all went on to become designers after receiving thorough training at furniture schools.

On the other hand, Finn Juhl's chairs are not only comfortable to use, but also have a really great design! I want one someday. I sat down on the chair for about two hours. I'm sure I'll want one at home someday.
Oh... Now that I think about it, my work has been going well.

I visited a nursery school in Minato-ku and Hikari no Ko Nursery School in Machida-shi. I'm currently working on a rough draft of the furniture. I'd like to design furniture and toys for Nakayoshi Library as well.
