Well, today was the delivery. It took two months from the meeting last year to deliver it. Sorry for the wait.
The delivery was to Nishitakane Montessori Children's House, where we delivered various shelves for teaching materials. We made a custom-made storage shelf for Montessori teaching materials to go with the furniture from the Nakayoshi Library that they were already using. The wide shelves are adjustable and can be tilted, so the contents can be viewed at an angle that makes it very easy to see.
In this way, the diagonal of the shelves on the upper level can be adjusted to suit the children's height.
I am also involved in a Montessori preschool in Kobe, but I heard that these teaching materials are quite expensive. If you buy all the materials and try to open a classroom, the budget will expand significantly. So the teachers are getting creative by buying them at auctions or making them themselves.
Nakayoshi Library is helping out this time by renting furniture. The initial investment is essentially 0 yen (you only have to pay for shipping) and you can use various shelves and custom-made items for a monthly fee. *By being involved with classrooms every month, we can learn know-how about furniture and ideas, and the teachers who run the classrooms can change and add things regularly, so the classrooms will continue to change. I'm sure students will find it easier to gather in such a place ♪
Many Montessori teaching tools are made from beech wood, so the atmosphere is definitely better if everything is made of wood. Wooden trays are an essential item for children to have fun playing with numbers.
I have previously introduced this room on my blog. There are various toys and teaching materials lined up. You can actually experience the weight and size of the toys by holding them and fitting them together.
This shelf was made specifically for teaching materials that can be used to study weight and length. The number of shelves can be set very precisely, so it can also be used for other purposes. There are gaps, but leaving this much space makes it easier for children to choose.
This is a washbasin for playing with laundry. A sushi tub is inserted into it, and a real faucet is attached. You can also store water in the tub, so you can actually wash things with a washboard, or even fill it with water and wash vegetables.
This is a room where children can study picture books, letters, the universe, nature, and so on. Teaching materials are neatly organized here. If things don't have a designated place or are messy, children can get confused about where to put things.
Searching for things can be stressful for children, so by creating shelves with ample space for organizing, things can be stored neatly.
The owner, Mr. Koga, said that not all the toys and teaching materials are on the shelves yet, but the atmosphere in the classroom has improved even more since the shelves were installed. I wonder what kind of expressions the children will have when they come tomorrow (^^♪ I'm looking forward to it now **
Interested in Montessori education
Last year, I started renting furniture and toys. Since I started this job, I have been approached by schools and stores with kids' rooms, and I have had more opportunities to make custom furniture.
From the customer's perspective, I think it's because it lowers the barrier to purchase and makes it easier to introduce. When I meet with customers, I realize that there is still a lot about the world of furniture that I don't know about.
I have had more opportunities to learn about Montessori education from teachers at Nikoro in Kobe and Nishitakane Montessori Children's Home, and I have come to understand firsthand how important it is to have furniture that is easy to store and tidy up.
There is still a lot we can do for classrooms, daycare centers, and kindergartens through furniture making. I would like to get serious about creating an environment that will make it easier for teachers to manage their work.
So I have one goal for this year. I'm going to study Montessori education. First of all, I'll buy a book. Bye.
