Mizuo Nursery School in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture. When they rebuilt their school building, they chose the wooden lockers from Nakayoshi Library. The large two-story nursery school is filled with wooden furniture.
Nursery school: Meetings from the design stage
The four companies, construction company, designer, and our company, had regular meetings with Mizuo Nursery School. This time, it was not a nursery school locker that was just placed on the wall, but a built-in type that was installed on the wall. We were careful from the drawing stage onwards.

Mizuo Nursery School original picture book corner
We created a special picture book corner at the back of the hall on the first floor of Mizuo Nursery School. It is colored to create an accent. The picture book covers face forward, making it easy for children to pick up and put back the books on the shelf.
Simple daycare locker
During the meeting with Mizuo Nursery School, we learned that they would use commercially available baskets for all of their lockers, so we chose the simplest lockers possible, with just a frame. These lockers are also popular for being easy to use and easy to access.

Wooden hinge
The 0-1 year old room was made entirely out of wood, so we had to think hard about hinges and ease of movement. With the help of the homeroom teacher, we decided on a combination of deep storage furniture and partitions. The furniture can be flexibly rearranged.
Creator's Column
I was used to installing furniture and holding meetings because of my previous job, but when it came to actually delivering the furniture, I had to drive a 4-ton truck, distribute the furniture between the first and second floors, and install it. This was done by two people. It took two days to complete. It was a hard job, but I'm glad we were able to finish it safely. I've been to Ibaraki City, Osaka many times during my time as a salaryman. I'm going back to Kochi with nostalgia.
