Ai-chan Chest

We have created a cutely named children's chest. It is a children's chest designed and developed by a former staff member of Nakayoshi Library for his own child. Even though it is for children, it is made entirely from solid wood, and even the bottom boards of the drawers are finished with a single piece of cedar. As a product, it incorporates an abundance of high-quality materials, making it furniture that can be used for a lifetime.

The handles are made of cherry wood, which is hard and scratch-resistant, and develops a unique character the more you use it.

Natural compact chest

The most common comment we receive from all of our readers in their letters is a very challenging request: "A cute shelf that can store a variety of items together in a compact space."

We collected your opinions and gave it a thorough consideration to create a compact design. First, we stored small everyday items in the middle. We designed the bottom shelf to store clothes and school supplies, and the shelves to store picture books, backpacks, toys, etc.

Unless you have a big house, most homes don't have that many rooms, so we made it compact. I think it's a stylish shelf that can be used even when your child grows up. In recent years, baby chests and children's clothing storage devices have become mainstream, being mass-produced overseas. Prices are also under 10,000 yen, making them easy to purchase.
But is that really okay? I want to ask. How much of a health hazard and allergy risk does storing clothes that come into direct contact with the skin in a box that is tightly glued together pose for my children and grandchildren?

We believe that by providing children with a single piece of furniture made from natural materials that they can use for the rest of their lives, it will help to reduce health hazards and ultimately teach them to use things with care and prudence. We hope that children will continue to use this furniture across generations, from university students to working adults, and even until they have their own children.
