Oaks Welfare is a social welfare corporation located in Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The company provides support for the disabled and elderly, and opened Oaks Senba Kindergarten in April 2016. The kindergarten building is made up of a large site filled with nature. We delivered wooden lockers and chairs for the Nakayoshi Library.

Meetings by email and phone

Speaking of Kochi → Hitachinaka City, there are no direct flights, so I had to go to Tokyo and then take the train from there, which meant I couldn't attend meetings very often. However, I was able to hold meetings directly with the chairman, so they went very smoothly.

Furniture processing
The baseboard has been cut out.

Although these were minor details, such as making the cabinet deeper to increase storage capacity and setting the height of the top drawer so that the teachers could easily pull it out, we were able to reflect the opinions of those on-site in the design.

After delivery

When I visited the new building after the delivery, the staff were very kind and showed me around carefully. They gave me their opinions on the usability of each locker and the weight of the tables, and I found them very helpful as I am still learning.

Lockers for 1-year-olds are easy for teachers to use

Locker for 1 year olds

Lockers for 1-year-olds are designed to be deep and tall, as they will require a lot of changing clothes. They are about 100cm high, so teachers can use the tops of the lockers for serving food or writing, making them very convenient.

Every kindergarten I visit is very welcoming. I'm truly grateful for this. The teachers at Oaks Senba Kindergarten are especially welcoming, as they are all smiling and it makes me feel good to see them. It's about an hour's walk from the station, so they often drive me to and from school, and I can't help but chat about all sorts of things. Seeing how even the young teachers are doing their job as principal so well makes me curious about how they organize the corporation and develop human resources. I learn things like this every day through my work at the nursery school.
