In March 2021, we introduced childcare lockers, tables, play equipment, etc. to Takasu Kindergarten, a local school in Kochi Prefecture, Morimoto Gakuen. It has been about five months since we first heard about it in October last year. This was the last delivery to the corporation in March, right in the middle of the busy season.
Introducing wooden childcare furniture to classrooms for 0-2 year olds
With the transition to a certified childcare facility this spring, they will be welcoming children aged 0 to 2 years old. Out of several childcare manufacturers, they chose us because of the good design and functionality of our furniture, and because they visited the factory and saw the actual manufacturing process .
0 and 1 year old room
Just like childcare workers, Nakayoshi Library places great importance on the safety and functionality of its products, and takes care to ensure that each and every product can be used with peace of mind. Most of the furniture is made from solid cypress wood. Cypress has a unique scent that fills the room, creating a relaxing and calming nursery room. It is also highly durable , making it the perfect material for furniture that will be used for a long time, such as in a nursery school.
The furniture produced by Nakayoshi Library is characterized by its rounded corners, which are free of sharp edges . This allows for safe childcare, is pleasant to the touch, and does not require cushioning, making the design and functionality of the furniture even more special.
A childcare room with a relaxed atmosphere, with an emphasis on traffic flow
Since 0 and 1 year olds are cared for in one classroom, the classroom is loosely divided by lockers. When we requested the service, the teacher particularly valued "a flow that is easy for staff to move around while still being at the eye level of the children ." By dividing the room with 90cm high lockers, you can see around the room without feeling oppressive.

Additionally, half of the room is designed for the teacher to take toys from the toy shelves, read picture books, or place indoor play equipment, so we thought it was important to have furniture that took the teacher's movement paths into consideration.
The tables and chairs used in daily childcare are equipped with "changeable chairs" and "long tables" that can be stacked for storage, and we have arranged products that are sized so that they can be moved around inside the indoor play equipment and toy shelves, making them easy to put away and rearrange .

The same lockers and tables are installed in the 2-year-old's room.
The two-year-old room is also equipped with the same lockers and picture book stands as the one-year-old room. The table is 900mm wide x 600mm deep x 400mm high, and is paired with a 22cm stacking chair. The three-piece play kitchen set, popular with both boys and girls, is also recommended for children from around the age of two.

We created sign plates for the entrances of each classroom. We consulted with the teachers to determine their image of the classroom and came up with the color scheme and design.
The playground in front of the newborn room is semi-outdoors, so children can play under the roof even on rainy days. Room plates can be installed in semi-outdoor locations that are not directly exposed to rain.
Providing experiences for children through events and experiences
While Nakayoshi Library is committed to contributing to the enrichment of children's futures and nurseries by creating and providing wooden products, it also aims to promote the development of intangible emotions and mental functions, in other words "non-cognitive abilities," through events and experiences. We hope that this will be an opportunity to deepen interest and understanding of wood, even if only a little.
