When considering product designs, we first listen to the needs of our customers and draw up sketches. Wooden furniture can last for over 100 years if used with care. It has a longer lifespan than most people, so it would be a waste to only think about it when you are a child!! We always think of designs that can be used for a long time, even when you become a student or an adult. Wooden and simple. Our design concept is furniture for both adults and children.

- Use it in a natural environment -

Nakayoshi Library's children's furniture is primarily made from cypress from Kochi Prefecture. The trees are 50 to 70 years old and are of high quality. As there are few knots and only the best parts are used, the cost of materials is not cheap, but the longer you use it, the more it will turn amber and improve in luster. As time goes on, artificial wood grain "looks" are often used, but considering the harm to humans caused by harmful substances released from adhesives, we still prefer to provide natural wood for children.

Recommended point 3: Use of safe and natural paints

The process that Nakayoshi Library spends the most time on is painting and polishing. We place great importance on the safety of polishing for children, so we round the corners and finish so that they don't hurt when they touch it. We polish the pieces many times to make them smooth. And then there's the paint. We use vegetable-derived Libos oil for the paint. We polish the pieces while allowing vegetable oils such as linseed oil and perilla oil to penetrate the wood. It's not a petroleum-based paint, so it has no unpleasant odor and brings out the wood grain. Best of all, it's harmless to the human body, so you can apply it without a mask. Of course, we use the same paint for the toys as well.

Carefully crafted down to the last detail

We polish every detail, including the joints between the side panels and the middle panel, and the rounded corners, and then carefully paint the product. The finish is so smooth that you'll want to rub your cheek against it when you touch it. It's smooth and feels great! It's only when you say this that you realize that we've succeeded in creating Nakayoshi Library products. We want you to experience it with all five senses, including the scent and texture.

Fragrant Drawer

The bottom of the drawer is made of a single piece of cedar. Drawers are often made of plywood or veneer, but Nakayoshi Library is committed to using wood and uses a single piece of cedar, the same material as the ceiling panels in Japanese architecture. The scent when you open the drawer is outstanding, and it fills the entire room with the scent of wood.

Movable shelves

The shelves are movable. They can be adjusted every 30mm. Initially, they were designed to be fixed, but the things you put in them change over time. It's a good idea to store school bags at the bottom for younger children. If they're below eye level, it's easier to take them in and out. As children get older, they'll move from picture books to encyclopedias and reference books. Place thick hardcover books at the bottom, and gradually move bags and other items up.

The back, which cannot be seen, also uses plenty of wood

The back of the furniture is the part that faces the wall, so in many cases plywood or wood grain prints are used, but at Nakayoshi Library we stick real wood on it. In fact, the boards visible between the books at the front are much more beautiful than the back, so we value that visual. The back panel is made of knot-free Shimanto cypress, a high-quality product that has a nice fragrance and is also used as a flooring material for homes.

Emphasis on ease of use

The height of the opening is about 80cm. This height is suitable for adults to place items and to easily access them without bending over. As children grow taller, we recommend placing items that are used frequently inside the opening.

There is only one package. You can use it as soon as you open the cardboard box. No assembly is required.
