Udon snap

Developed with local wood and people who love the local area

Supervised by Sanuki Toy Museum

We teamed up with the Sanuki Toy Museum to work on a project to create wooden toys that would represent Kagawa Prefecture.
[Udon Patchin] was developed by Nakayoshi Library, based on the motif of udon restaurants, a famous product of Kagawa Prefecture.
The product was then finalized after some adjustments and improvements were made while listening to the feedback from actual users at the Sanuki Toy Museum.

Made from cypress wood from a forestry business that has continued for five generations

The wood used is sourced from Higashikawa Forestry in the local Kagawa prefecture.
Higashikawa Forestry began reforestation at the end of the Edo period, and is currently run by the fourth and fifth generation foresters.
They do not practice clear-cutting (cutting down all the trees on the mountain), but instead follow the principle of thinning, nurturing the mountains for generations to come.
We use local resources wherever possible to support the local economy and minimize our impact on the environment. This initiative is part of the local industry revitalization project promoted by Nakayoshi Library, and provides new value to our customers.
Kagawa Prefecture has created a toy that has a warm feel and a pleasant wooden scent.

Introducing Udon Patchin

I've been eating udon since I was a child

Udon noodles are a familiar food for babies, and are also a good choice for weaning.
The shape of Udon Patchin is inspired by a udon restaurant that serves udon noodles.
If you pull the chimney of a udon shop, the obi will stretch.
"Udonbachi buttons" that snap onto the obi were inspired by the buttons on baby rompers.
The sound and movement of the snapping sounds made by small children's fingers is so fun that they can't help but repeat the action over and over again.
When you turn the handle at the udon shop, the udon bowls fly off, bringing smiles to the faces of adults and children alike.

With a gentle fragrance and a wooden texture that improves the color the more you play with it, this is a gentle, fun toy that you can play with for a long time.

This is a toy where you snap buttons together and when you wind it up, the buttons fly into the air.

The plastic hooks use safety buttons developed for baby clothes.
Each piece is made using a different natural wood to create different colours.

For fine motor skills

This is an educational toy that can help children from around the age of 3 learn how to use their hands, and is a fun way to learn.

Turn the handle and the button will come off with force and jump up.

How to play Udon Patchin

There are buttons of various shapes in the drawer.

We pull up the chimney on the roof and snap buttons onto our belts.

Turn the handle to wind up the belt.

The button comes off and the toy flies off with great force. It's a game that you'll want to play over and over again.

When you pull the chimney on the roof, a string comes out. The string is about 75cm long.

Made from 100% natural materials

*The photo shows the gloss increased even more after applying natural paint.
For the finishing touch, the surface is coated with linseed oil extracted from plants and then polished to enhance the luster. This is a masterpiece that is completed through a number of steps by hand, with a focus on using natural materials.
