A few months have passed since we purchased the logs. Finally, it is time to use them for our customers. I am looking forward to seeing how they will look.

I can now choose the materials for me and my bookshelf.

Well, now customers can choose to have our popular Boku to Watashi Bookcase manufactured either as width seam lumber (several boards joined horizontally) or as a single piece of board ** This is because we listened to the voices of both customers who want to enjoy the look of the wood and customers who are happy as long as the board is knot-free and functional .

For those of you wondering what that means, here is some more detail. As shown in the photo above, up until now materials have been made by joining three boards horizontally, but the single board type uses one wide board as is .

So, what's the difference? First of all, there are the following differences:
- Less adhesive used → more natural and safer for allergies
- The wood's expression becomes more expressive → The environment in which the tree was grown affects the grain of the wood, so the wood grain changes to a more expressive, dense appearance.
- You can enjoy the design of the knots → You can enjoy the design of the knots, and the furniture you receive will be a special piece of furniture that is one of a kind in the world.
- We use trees that are over 100 years old.
- Funds are returned to the mountains → By directly purchasing high-quality timber, funds are indirectly returned to the mountains.
- You can know where the wood came from → Since the materials are purchased directly from the market, you can tell which mountain it was felled on and when.

The reason why boards are joined together in the first place is that the width (depth) of furniture requires a wide piece of wood, such as 40cm or 30cm. Therefore, in order to ensure that width, the furniture cannot be made without joining the boards together.

But you may be wondering , "Why not just use a single wide piece of wood as is?" But think about it. Beautiful and wide pieces of wood are rare and few in number, so they are treated as high-quality lumber and traded at high prices in the market.

Therefore, making boards by gluing boards together is easier to handle and more suitable for mass production (of course, joining boards together also requires high skill).

However, we want our customers to use high-quality wood with a wide range of width and tight grain . By purchasing and using wood that is traded at a high price in the market, our customers can feel the quality of wood even more.

And because we can sell at a high price to people who have been managing the forests for 50 to 70 years, across generations, the money is put back into the mountains.
In the end, this will revitalize the forestry industry, which is said to be short of workers! By purchasing logs as is, Nakayoshi Library will contribute to the sustainable use and circulation of forest resources.

Even though solid boards are a material that are traded at high prices, logs always have knots. Knots are the marks where branches were attached when the tree was standing, but the industry common sense is that it is better to have as few knots as possible when making furniture.

But is this common sense and sense of beauty really so? Knots can also be part of the design depending on how they are used . And timber that is traded at a wide range of high prices does not have many knots. This is because the people involved in forestry who managed the mountains, the people one generation before us, pruned the branches, managed and protected the mountains. (Of course, logs from mountains that have been managed for over 50 years are expensive.)

Our generation has benefited from well-managed mountains. Now it is our turn to make a contribution to society by ensuring that funds are properly channeled into the mountains and that mountain management continues .

As part of Nakayoshi Library's future endeavors, we will challenge ourselves to purchase high-quality materials in the form of logs, viewing the knots as unique characteristics of the wood , and delivering the blessings of the mountains to our customers in their original, pristine state .
This is a way to give money back to the mountains and revitalize Japan's mountains, and it also allows our customers to experience the true essence of wood that is over 50 years old by using it as furniture .

We have delivered products to many customers so far. When we talk to our customers, we hear things like, "I want to give my children as natural products as possible," and "I want to give them toys and furniture that don't cause allergies."
This attempt is to pursue furniture that is more "natural," safe and secure than ever before.
What kind of wood grain and knots will the tree have when it arrives at your home? Please wait for its arrival with the same feeling as welcoming a precious child.
