Toy Factory Tour and Woodworking Class Tour

おもちゃ工場見学と木工教室ツアー

Good evening. I'm surprised that my morning running habit has completely stopped recently. I have a tendency to unconsciously take the easy route. Damn!!! I'll try my best again tomorrow.

Mitoyo Wooden Toy Factory Tour

Today, we had the Kansai Educational Travel Agency, university student volunteers, and the manager of Netz Toyota Kobe come to inspect the Mitoyo Strawberry Picking & Woodworking Tour that we are planning for April 17th.

First of all, welcome udon, which is a golden rule when guiding people around Kagawa Prefecture. We had lunch at an udon restaurant close to Zentsuji IC. It was the first time I had ever tasted dashi in a udon pot.

Explanation of strawberry picking at the strawberry farm - From KUBOTA

School strawberry garden

The tour started with strawberry picking. At Shikoku KUBOTA's School Strawberry Garden, the strawberries hang at waist height, making them very easy to pick. You can eat as much as you like for 40 minutes. I tried a sample, and it was delicious. I've been here for five years, but this is the first time I've eaten KUBOTA's strawberries!

We were also given samples to try. They were delicious! They were a mix of local Kagawa varieties and famous varieties.

Toy Factory Tour

A tour of a toy factory next to the school building. The children saw the entire process from sawing, cutting, assembly, painting, and shipping.

Nakayoshi Library Mitoyo Factory

Our guide was Mr. Kuwata. He usually works in assembly, but he was very good at explaining the factory. He used to work in customer service, so I think a tour of a toy factory is quite rare, even nationwide. At the Nakayoshi Library factory, you can see the finished products, and there are over 15 different types of wood on display, so you can smell and feel them.

Chopstick making workshop

We moved to the science lab and made chopsticks. We chose our favorite materials and made chopsticks as souvenirs. *Everyone was totally hooked! They were super serious about choosing their chopsticks.

Nakayoshi Library: Chopstick Making Class

Plane it, polish it, and it's finished.

This chopstick-making workshop is a lot of fun for both adults and children. It's popular because it can be used right away, turning simple sticks into chopsticks that can be used from today! What's more, the fact that you made them yourself gives you a sense of satisfaction, so those who are particular about their chopsticks polished them carefully. It's also fun to compete with each other to see who can make the best finished product.

In the evening, we went to Chichibugahama Beach, about a 40-minute drive away, and looked at the shallow coast. Everyone was so tall, it was really picturesque. This was a [preliminary] tour for a day trip, but it looks like it will be a fun half-day tour. From 12:00 to 17:00, we had udon in town, strawberries and woodworking in the mountains, and finally watched the sunset by the sea. What did you all think? This day trip tour will be held on the 17th of next month. **We are still accepting reservations, so please contact us below for details.

Kansai Educational Travel, the volunteer university students, and Netz Toyota. Thank you for spending half a day with us today. I'm happy that through our daily interactions, the reach of our activities as Nakayoshi Library is gradually growing and expanding. We'd like to continue thinking about workshops and parent-child tours like this, and link them to local revitalization and wood education activities.

Thank you everyone for your hard work! See you tomorrow!
