It's warm and sunny.

ポカポカ陽気です。

There was fog this morning. Apparently it's the first fog in a year and nine months. Everything around is white and you can't see anything. It's been bone dry recently, but yesterday's rain has made the humidity go up. This level of humidity is comfortable for the body.

I guess I'm a Kochi resident after all. The humidity makes me feel calm (lol)

Today, I had time to go to the Monobe Forestry Association stockyard. It was my first time here, even though it's close by.

There are lots of cypress and cedar logs. Our town, Kami City, has a forested area of over 90%. Thanks to the forestry association here, the wood from the mountains is properly marketed.

The work of managing the mountain is closely related to the work of the Nakayoshi Library. Without this work, we would not be able to make Nakayoshi products. We are grateful. Let's bow to the mountain.

In our blog post the other day, we introduced a tour of a cypress lumber mill, showing the process of turning logs into boards, but what actually happens at the site just before that is actually like this.

Trees are cut down from the mountains and sorted in this large stockyard. They are then auctioned at markets or purchased directly by sawmills, and then distributed to various places both within and outside Kochi Prefecture.

As for me, I procured this big log. If it dries in time, I'll take it to the playroom in the summer and make something like a balance beam for the kids.

Thank you to Shiba-san for helping us load the car. By the way, he was my senior in the soccer club in high school.
